About the Officers

Devin Colman is a Historic Buildings Specialist at the Vermont Division for Historic Preservation. He holds a M.S. in Historic Preservation from the University of Vermont and a B.A. in Art History from Colby College. His ongoing research focuses on the identification, documentation and preservation of 20th century architecture throughout Vermont.

Julie H. Ernstein is an anthropolgy professor at Northwestern State University. She earned a B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Archaeology from Boston University. Her research into cultural landscapes spans 18th-century gardens to the Levitt suburbs.

Jeffrey Harris is a Preservation Planner in the Office of Cultural Resources at the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. He received an M.A. in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University and an A.B. in Architecture from Princeton University. He is a founding board member of Save Fenway Park!.

Alan Higgins is a Preservation Planner with the Delaware County Planning Department in Media, Pennsylvania. He holds a M.S. in Historic Preservation from Ball State University and a B.S. in Historic Preservation from Southeast Missouri State University. He has done extensive research on the recent past in Indiana and is currently completing a 20th century context study for southeastern Pennsylvania.

Aaron Marcavitch is the Executive Director of Housing Nantucket, an affordable housing provider.  Aaron has a BS in Historic Preservation from Roger Williams University and a MA in History (Public) from Middle Tennessee State University. His research focuses on unique architectural elements of leisure, including amusement parks, camping, early automobile related buildings, gas stations, hotels, and fast food buildings.

Cindy Olnick is Director of Communications for the Los Angeles Conservancy, the country’s largest local historic preservation organization. She previously served on the Conservancy’s volunteer Modern Committee. She has researched, written about, and commented on L.A.’s rich modernist legacy in various outlets, from local media to landmark nominations. She holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Boston University

Frampton Tolbert is Deputy Director of the Historic Districts Council, a grassroots preservation advocacy organization in New York City. He has extensive fundraising and development experience working with a wide range of arts and preservation non-profits. He has a B.A. in Historic Preservation from Mary Washington College. He also serves on the board of the Victorian Society in America, Metropolitan Chapter.
